Slight question toward OC development.

Post by Marshall De Vos on Fri Mar 18, 2016 2:36 pm

Well, in all honesty, I don't know how else to name this, and the problem might soon become relevant in a plot, so I'd like, in all honesty, to recieve an answer here.

I know I don't have Legend Permissions, but what if plot explanation would require the usage of a legendary pokemon? Could I, say, use some of a certain legend's abilities and lore to explain why an OC is what he is? Mind you, I am not asking for the legend itself. I'm just asking if I could refer to its powers in explanation (and maybe one or two lines of dialogue, if I flashback to OC past), but that would be all that I inquire.
Is that in itself a possibility?

It'd be best to ask for permission from the Legendary owner to intertwine your OC's past with something relating to the Legendary in question, so that stuff isn't mixed up and whatnot. It's better to get that cleared up before trying anything.

You should also mention/share whatever the flashback/etc is to the Legendary owner, as well, so that they can understand your OC better and their relation to the Legendary Pokemon's lore.

Mhm I second Yujo. I had someone in a fr a while back who was claiming to be the child of Xerneas and made up a whole lore for my oc, which isnt true. It was pretty annoying as I had to clear it up with a lot of people.

you know if people used their legend OCs more shit like this would be harder to sneak past people

Although yeah, it can be annoying to have to adapt to someone forcefully changing your OC (trust me I know) so please check with the legend holder for that.

That's true, I hadn't thought of that at the time! Thanks for pointing it out.

If the Legendary owner were to decline whatever the other person had proposed, that should be respected.
If that is not respected, take it to staff and we'll talk them out of it.
